We again welcomed a group of volunteers onto the site for a day of work to make a difference to the community. There were eight volunteers and they worked incredibly hard for the entire day.
In the morning they split into two teams of four. One team topped up the bark in the two pits around our wooded play area. This involved moving 50 sacks of bark from Oakfield to the play area and spreading it over the two pits. The results of their work is amazing and the play equipment will be well used over the summer.
The other team of four took the "easier" job of removing the green plastic protectors from the 1000 trees and bushes we planted for the Girlguiding Centenary. This turned out to be much harder work than expected and they may have wished they chose to spread bark instead.
The bark laying team were finished by mid day and they then joined in with the removal of the tree guards. By the end of the day they had removed the vast majority from the trees on Oakfield. An amazing achievement.
The weather was even kind and did not rain on us until the end of the day. A huge thank you to the volunteers for a hard days work that has made such a difference to our campsite.
